Annual meeting highlights

April 6, 2021

The Desjardins Group Pension Plan (DGPP or Plan) annual meeting was held on March 25. During the meeting, the Desjardins Group Retirement Committee (DGRC) reported on the Plan administration and financial position. The Plan is growing even stronger despite the COVID‑19 pandemic.

Nearly 850 people attended the live webcast: about 750 of them were Desjardins employees, and about 75 of them were retirees or beneficiaries. The event, which was held entirely online for the first time, was a real success, with 98% of survey respondents saying that they were very satisfied (83%) or satisfied (15%) with the annual meeting.

Here are some comments we received:

  • Clear and detailed explanations. Good overview of the fiscal year highlights without going into too much detail. I really liked the online format.
  • It was very interesting. Nice format and well-presented with different speakers. Very well thought out and organized!
  • I'm a recent Desjardins retiree. This meeting shows us what a quality plan we have, and how much freedom and peace of mind the plan gives us. I feel so lucky!

The results of the recent DGRC election were also presented during the meeting. Robert Desbiens was re-elected to the position of non-voting member designated by retirees, beneficiaries and members entitled to a deferred pension. Dominic Laurin was elected to the position of member designated by active members.

During the meeting, participants had a chance to ask questions and submit comments. The Plan administrators answered the most frequently asked questions. We also followed up with all participants whose questions weren't answered during the meeting.
